Andrey Syaylev

bio   works

Andrey Syaylev was born in Samara in 1982. He graduated from Samara Art College and studied at Samara Pedagogical University. He was a co-founder of the Art Chaos festival (together with Vladimir Logutov).
Andrey Syaylev’s art experiments with plastic techniques and textures as well as going a lot further. Combining fragments of building façades and scraps of images of sundry everyday objects, Syaylev reflects about abstraction in its relation to the reality of the material world and about society’s loss of a unified worldview and the latter’s disintegration into heterogeneous fragments.
Syaylev has participated in numerous video art festivals in Russia, Italy and the Ukraine. He also took part in the Parallel Programmes of the 5th and 6th Moscow International Biennales for Young Art and the Parallel Programme of the festival MANIFESTA-10 (2014).
