Sasha Pirogova

Garden

14.02.2019-03.03.2019

The Fragment Gallery was opened in the new Cube space. For the first time in Moscow, it presents the Garden video by Sasha Pirogova, created for the exposition of the Russian pavilion at the 57th International Art Exhibition in Venice.

Sasha Pirogova, who works mainly with video and performance, is one of the most demanded young Russian artists. Her works which focus on the philosophical study of the continuous flow of life, offer a sensual view of the duality of the material and spiritual. The works of the artist can be presented as a kind of energy exchange, fixing and conveying to the viewer the artist’s feelings, as she strives for his positive transformation. In the Garden video Sasha Pirogova refers to the eternal questions of the universe – the story of life and death turns into the concept of light and darkness, where there is no contradiction between them. Darkness is just the absence of light, in other words, its lack.

Since a human being is a source of light it has the capacity as a result of which light appears. Where a human being appears, life always appears. In the Garden video we are witnesses of this process. The name of the work – Garden – is a garden that blooms forever, from darkness to light. The journey made by the viewer is a process where love, which is the basis of life, triumphs. «The Garden» is a symbol of hope, the eternal triumph of life and the unconditioned blossoming.
