Lisa Ivory

Lisa Ivory lives and works in London. Ivory received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Central Saint Martins (London). The artist creates fantasy worlds of mythical creatures – woods and nature had always tempted her – «When asked as small child what I wanted to grow up to be, before I knew what an artist was, I would answer an animal». Ivory’s paintings recall Francisco Goya and Honore Daumier. According to the artist, savage creatures from her paintings illustrate wild and bestial traits that lurk within every human being – «the Wild Man could be both savage and sublime, evoke fear and admiration, and represent our antithesis and ideal».
